Magnetic sensors consist of a reed switch with contacts, protected by a glass bulb containing inert gas to ensure mechanical and electrical deterioration are kept to a minimum. This is all contained in a plastic or metallic housing, filled with epoxy resin to guarantee protection against humidity, vibration and shocks. They are available in cylindrical or rectangular versions with either normally open or changeover contacts. Magnets of various shapes and sizes are also available to activate these sensors.
